ENDODONTICS

Endodontics is the dental specialty focused on saving teeth through procedures involving the inner tissues of the tooth—specifically, the pulp and root canals. The most common endodontic treatment is a root canal, a highly effective procedure used to treat infection or inflammation inside a tooth and preserve its structure.
Inside every tooth is a soft tissue called the pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels. When this tissue becomes infected due to deep decay, a crack, trauma, or repeated dental procedures, it can cause pain, sensitivity, swelling, or even an abscess. Without treatment, the tooth may eventually need to be extracted.
During root canal therapy, we carefully remove the infected or damaged pulp, clean and disinfect the inner canals, and then fill and seal the space with a biocompatible material. This stops the infection, relieves pain, and allows the tooth to function normally again. In most cases, a crown is placed afterward to protect and strengthen the tooth.
The entire process is done under local anesthesia and is generally no more uncomfortable than getting a filling. Many patients report immediate relief from pain after the procedure.
Root canals save natural teeth, allowing you to chew comfortably and maintain your natural smile. With advancements in technology and techniques, root canal therapy is quicker, more comfortable, and more successful than ever.
